Sustainable Softworks Privacy Policy
Protecting your privacy is important to Sustainable Softworks (Sustworks).
We hope the following policy will help you understand how Sustworks
collects, uses, and safeguards the personal information you provide
on our website.
Information Collection
When you browse our website, you do so anonymously. We don't collect
personal information, including your email address. We do log your
IP address (the Internet address of your computer) to give us an
idea of which parts of our website you visit and how long you spend
there. But we do not link your IP address to anything personally
identifiable. The only other information automatically provided
to us is the type of computer and operating system you are using.
Your browser supplies us with this information.
Like many other commercial websites, the Sustworks' website may
use a standard technology called a "cookie" to collect information
about how you use the site. This cookie information is simply intended
to determine repeat visit statistics and is not shared nor otherwise
used.
In some of our advertising on other web sites, we use a device
called a "click-through URL." When you click on one of these URLs,
you pass through our system before arriving at a page on our site
that is your true destination. Sustworks uses click-throughs to
determine the level of interest in particular topics and to measure
the effectiveness of our advertising. We do not share this data,
and we make no attempt to match click-throughs to particular email
addresses.
At times we may request that you voluntarily supply us with personal
information, such as your name, email address, your internet connection
type, how you found us, etc. How we use this information is covered
below.
Software Registration
When you register any of our products, a unique registration key
is generated based on the name, organization, and number of copies
information which you provide. To unlock the trial expiration of
our software, we ask that you enter this information into the registration
dialog box of the program.
When you enter this information in the application, we validate
the registration key checksum. In addition, the application may
contact one of our servers for the sole purpose of verifying the
validity of the registration key entered. Once your registration
is confirmed, absolutely no further communication with our server
is attempted.
We have chosen this step in response to wide spread publishing
of unauthorized registration keys. We believe the customer impact
to be small and welcome your feedback on how we might improve our
products and service.
Information Use
If you provide us with personal information, or have done so in
the past, we may attempt to contact you to determine if our software
met your expectations, offer additional assistance or notify you
about special offers. If you do not want us to contact you, you
can choose to "opt out". Sustworks will respect your wishes.
Opting Out
Although most customers tell us they appreciate receiving our Nettalk
mailings, Netannounce notices, personalized support and offers of
special opportunities, we recognize the importance of providing
you with choices. At any time, you may request to discontinue mailings
from us by simply replying to the email and informing us of your
preferences. With the exception of support case correspondence,
which is customer initiated, all of our email messages clearly explain
how you can easily opt out and stop receiving such messages from
us.
Data Security
Sustworks is fully committed to data security. To prevent unauthorized
access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of
information, we have put in place electronic and managerial procedures
to safeguard and secure the information you provide to us online.
In specific regard to information provided to us in support cases,
all such information is keyed to a specific support case number
and an email address (which you provide). We do not use your email
address for any other purpose other than corresponding with you
about your specific support case. It is important that you understand
when you provide your support case number and email address to a
third party that this party will have access to the entire thread
of your support case. We will never supply such information nor
give access to support threads to any third party without your written
consent.
Company Commitment to Privacy
We believe strongly in respecting your privacy. However, we also
reserve the right to change our privacy policy in order to adapt
to new situations. Our commitment is to inform users how we intend
to use any information we request before it is collected (so you
can opt in), and to respect your wishes to opt out.
