"IPNetTuner" is a simple control panel-like application
that allows you to optimize TCP/IP network performance under Macintosh
Open Transport by tuning internal TCP/IP parameters to match your
network environment. The Tuner supports over 30 adjustable parameters
including the TCP Window Size, Time Out intervals, Maximum Segment
Size, and MTU.
You can save your settings in IPNetTuner settings documents and
invoke them each time you start up by placing the corresponding
document in your Startup Items folder.
Important: As currently implemented, IPNetTuner is best
suited for configurations where TCP/IP is permanently loaded since
there is no automatic way to remember custom settings when TCP/IP
is unloaded
To keep TCP/IP permanently loaded, open your TCP/IP control panel,
and click on the Options button (you must be in Advanced User Mode.
Get into Advanced User mode from beneath the Edit menu of the TCP/IP
control panel). Make sure the Load Only When Needed option is UNCHECKED.
Save these settings by closing the TCP/IP control panel.
System requirements:
MacOS 7.5.3 and Open Transport 1.1.1 or later
.
